So, keep in mind the main reason most of us get into the helping profession is because we want to make the world a better place and help others achieve success. I wish the above were also true, and I do believe that we can change the culture of counseling and mental health to make this true. Right now, what are your top three reasons for becoming a counselor?
For me, it's centered around the goal of helping people get better. Not just helping people overcome major trauma, but going along on the journey of becoming more complete as a person. I also wanted to run my own business and have freedom in my work. Counseling just seemed like the perfect fit.
