"Because I was told to."

"Because this is the way we've always done it. "

"Because I have have to."

"Because I don't know any other way."

Any of these sound familiar?  For many people, the "because" syndrome is not only a way of thinking, it's a lifestyle.  Simply following blindly the rules of others.  "Because" it's always been done that way doesn't mean there's not a better way.  Just "because" you were told to, doesn't mean you have to do it.

Life's journey is about questioning yourself and others.  Don't do anything "just because".  Find your own voice, your own way of seeing the world.  Be open to new ideas and ways of viewing the world.  Challenge yourself daily to see things differently and learn from those that are different than you.

People love to engage in environments where their current belief system is confirmed.  It's easy.  You don't have to think.  It feels good to be "right".  But, true growth comes from breaking free of your comfort zone.  Get out there and talk with someone different than you.  Challenge yourself to have an open mind and you might just learn that just because you've always done it that way, there just might be a better way.
